A man accused of attacking 10 people and their vehicles with a hammer during a crime spree in Boulder City and Henderson is a convicted felon and may have been under the influence of methamphetamine, according to a Boulder City Police arrest report.

Damien Darnell Robins, 31, was arrested Friday night near Arrowhead Trail and Horizon Drive in Henderson after police received calls of people being beaten with hammers and their car windshields being smashed in an hourlong crime spree, police said.

Robins' wife told police he has an addiction to methamphetamine and was fired Thursday from his job.

Robins told police he works as an electrician and confirmed he had recently been fired, police said.

His wife hadn't spoken to Robins in days when the two saw each other Friday afternoon, and she believed he was under the influence of meth, police said.

She said he wouldn't let her leave the house and told her he wanted to kill her and burn her body, police said.

She said he told her to withdraw $500 from her bank account and wanted her to buy him a gun because he couldn't, police said.

Convicted felons are not allowed to possess firearms in Nevada.

Robins also said he "felt like bludgeoning someone" and planned to leave the state, his wife told police.

Later that night, Robins was arrested in connection with the spree of beatings that left several people hospitalized.

Police received an initial report about 7:15 p.m. that a man had struck a woman's windshield with a hammer in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven convenience store, located at 849 Nevada Way in Boulder City, according to the arrest report.

Robins asked the woman if she was lost or alone before yelling at her and striking her windshield with a hammer, police said.

The woman managed to escape, but about 20 minutes later, police received a report from a married couple that a man beat them with a hammer before fleeing the scene.

The couple told police the man said, "Don't come back around here anymore," before driving north toward Henderson, according to the report.

Another man was driving north on U.S. 93 near mile marker 10 when Robins slammed into the right side of his pickup truck and yelled at him to "get off the road," according to the report.

Robins then positioned his car in front of the truck and exited his vehicle, striking the truck several times before beating the man inside with a hammer, the report said.

The man followed Robins into Henderson and provided updates on Robins' location to 911, the report said.

The spree continued as Robins crossed a center median at Pacific Avenue and Horizon Drive, causing a head-on collision with a blue Dodge Neon before exiting his car and again using the hammer to smash the windshield, police said.

Another woman who stopped her black Volkswagen Jetta at Greenway Road and Heather Way was also struck with a hammer after stopping behind Robins, police said.

Police said Robins then made his way to Foothill High School, located at 800 College Drive near U.S. 95, and entered a crowded parking lot, exiting his vehicle and striking a passerby with a hammer.

The man told police Robins stood over him and said, "Sir, I'm sorry but I'm going to kill you. Everything will be OK when you're dead."

The man told police he tried to run away and Robins chased him in a vehicle.

Robins again got out of his vehicle with the hammer in his hand and told the man, "Sir, I want to let you know everything's going to be OK, but I'm going to kill you," according to the report.

The victim told police Robins was calm and stopped approaching him when a Henderson Police car entered the lot.

Police said Robins then entered a residential area on Cherry Drive near Butch Cassidy Lane and attacked another vehicle.

As the driver attempted to leave the scene, she said Robins told her, "There's nowhere to go" and chased her, according to the report.

Robins eventually left the scene, driving to a Taco Bell at 730 E. Horizon Drive in Henderson and blocking the drive-thru, the report said.

He approached a vehicle on the driver's side and struck the female within the car twice with the hammer, police said.

A Henderson Police K-9 officer took him into custody about 9 p.m. Friday, police said.

He is being held at the Clark County Detention Center on three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, six counts of attempted murder and kidnapping charges, police said.

Officers said Robins provided conflicting statements.
