The man who was beaten to death at a homeless encampment Thursday evening has been identified today by the Clark County Coroner's Office as Steven Edward.

According to the coroner's office, Edward, 44, died of multiple blunt force trauma.

Henderson police have arrested Amos Martinez, 37, in connection with Edward's death. Police say Martinez, who lived in an encampment near where Edward was found, beat Edward after a disagreement and then stole his flashlight.

Edward was discovered by two men who returned to the encampment and saw his body in the desert near Lake Mead Parkway and Warm Springs Road.

Martinez faces murder and robbery charges, officials said.
