Police have arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with the beating death of a transient man at a homeless encampment Thursday night.

Henderson officials said the suspect, Amos Martinez, is also homeless and lived in another encampment near where the victim was found. According to city officials, Martinez beat the man to death after a disagreement. He is also accused of stealing the man's flashlight afterward.

The 44-year-old victim was found that night by two men who returned to the encampment in the desert near Lake Mead Parkway and Warm Springs Road. His identity will be released by the Clark County coroner.

Martinez faces murder and robbery charges and is being held without bond in the Henderson Detention Center, officials said.
