TCU’s Josh Doctson (9) celebrates his touchdown with Halapoulivaati Vaitai (74) and Deante’ Gray (20) during the first half of an NCAA football game against Oklahoma State on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, in Fort Worth, Texas.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Trevone Boykin threw for a career-high 410 yards with three touchdowns, two on long plays to Josh Doctson in the first quarter, and No. 12 TCU bounced back with a 42-9 victory over No. 15 Oklahoma State on Saturday.

Doctson had seven catches for 225 yards, a yard short of TCU's school record even with scores of 77 and 84 yards.

B.J. Catalon ran for 102 yards and two scores for the Horned Frogs (5-1, 2-1 Big 12).

On the same week that coach Mike Gundy described his team's offense as "just very average," Oklahoma State (5-2, 3-1) was outgained 676-258 and held without a touchdown for the first time since a 27-0 loss to Oklahoma in the 2009 regular-season finale.

The Cowboys had won five in a row since losing their opener 37-31 to defending national champion Florida State.

TCU quickly erased any notion of a hangover effect from that wild 61-58 loss at Baylor a week earlier. The Frogs jumped ahead 21-3, including three touchdowns in a span of four offensive snaps after punting on their first drive.

Catalon put TCU ahead to stay at 7-0 with a 34-yard touchdown run, when he went through a gap on the left side, cut across the field and kept his balance into the end zone after being twisted around by a defender near the 10-yard-line. That came on the second play after Kevin White intercepted Daxx Garman's pass.

Doctson had both of his long TD catches in a 3-minute span later in the first quarter.

Boykin, who finished 26 of 39, hit Doctson in stride near the TCU 40 on a slant route on the first play after an Oklahoma State punt. The receiver made the grab in front of cornerback Ramon Richards and sprinted by him the final 60 yards for the 77-yard touchdown.

Garman had a 57-yard pass to Brandon Shepard to the TCU 12 before the Cowboys settled for Ben Grogan's 30-yard field goal. Grogan also made kicks of 27 and 28 kicks for the only Oklahoma State points.

Two plays after Grogan's first field goal, Doctson got behind Richards and then outleaped safety Jordan Sterns for the catch. Doctson caught that pass about the same place as the previous one, again sprinting untouched to the end zone.

Catalon added a 35-yard TD just before halftime for a 28-9 lead and TCU also had the ball to start the second half, with Boykin's 22-yard TD pass to Deante' Gray capping a 14-play, 79-yard drive.

Boykin showed no ill effects from an injury sustained to his non-throwing wrist during the loss at Baylor. He wore a protective sleeve with a soft cast on his left arm.

Along with his big passing game, he ran nine times for 41 yards and had a big block, taking down defensive end Trace Clark in the backfield on a reverse that got the Frogs a first down.

Garman completed 10 of 25 passes for 132 yards with two interceptions.

The Frogs finished their first stretch of playing three consecutive top 15 teams. They beat Oklahoma 37-33 in their previous home game two weeks ago. The win over Oklahoma State was their first top 15 matchup at home since 1984.
