Maliek Broady and Daniel Godfrey scored two touchdowns apiece, and Sierra Vista held on for a key 37-27 home win over Division I-A Sunset rival Spring Valley tonight.
Broady and Godfrey each had one touchdown rushing and receiving to help the Mountain Lions (6-2, 4-2) hold off the Grizzlies (5-3, 4-2).
Sierra Vista quarterback Oscar Aliaga threw three touchdown passes.
“It was a big victory for us, having not beaten (Spring Valley) for some time,” Sierra Vista coach John Foss said. “It’s big. We’re excited about the direction the program’s going; a nice step today by beating a quality team like Spring Valley.”
It was the first victory for Sierra Vista over Spring Valley since Oct. 6, 2011, when the Mountain Lions won 14-0 at home.
