Native American tribes in Nevada will receive nearly $5 million from the federal government for environmental programs and infrastructure, U.S. Sen. Harry Reid’s office announced today.
The Environmental Protection Agency will split the $4.8 million among 19 tribes, with about half of the money earmarked for infrastructure and community outreach and the other half going toward water quality projects, according to a statement released by Reid’s office.
The Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe will receive the largest share at $971,908, followed by the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California at $575,696 and the Shoshone Paiute Tribes of Duck Valley at $569,780.
