Police block off the area around the Oasis Vinings Apartments, where a man and a toddler were found dead Sunday morning, Oct. 12, 2014.

Authorities have identified a toddler who Las Vegas police say was killed by her foster father before he committed suicide.

Clark County coroner's officials say 37-year-old Joaquin Juarez-Paez was found dead Sunday morning in the parking lot of an apartment complex on North Jones Boulevard. A cause of death has not been released.

Police say Juarez-Paez's wife was searching for the keys to the vehicle when she discovered 16-month-old Michell Momox-Caselis dead in her crib.

Investigators say Juarez-Paez was last seen putting the girl in her crib and leaving for work, but he never turned up at his job.

Officers say the couple had recently become foster parents for Momox-Caselis and another child.

Clark County Family Services officials issued a statement saying they were stunned by the apparent murder-suicide.
