Man holed up after domestic dispute in southwest valley surrenders

Updated Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014 | 7:40 p.m.

A barricade situation at a house in the southwest valley ended peacefully this evening.

Lt. Mark Reddon said the man who had refused to come out of a house at 9267 Angel Forest Ave., near Blue Diamond Road and El Capitan Way, surrendered without incident about 6:50 p.m. and was taken into custody.

Police received an initial report about 2:30 p.m. of a domestic disturbance involving a man and his 70-year-old father.

The man, who had a knife, refused to come out of the house, Reddon said. Evidence suggests he battered his father.

Reddon said the man threatened to harm himself. A SWAT team and negotiators assisted.
