Letter to the editor:

Our education governor

It seems laughable that Gov. Brian Sandoval will lead the National Governors Association Education and Workforce Committee. He says “education is his top priority to ensure economic security.”

Being chair of this committee is just another line on the résumé of our governor.

Our state, which is listed 36th in teacher support and last in education, has had no leadership from our governor. If you check his list of education accomplishments, it seems void of anything important. His interests seem to lie in the area of private schools rather than public schools. We are fooled into thinking he supports or fights for interests of the teachers and education or leadership for schools.

It’s amazing we would think he is interested in education at all. We certainly don’t see him as an education governor nor a leader, particularly for the southern part of the state where the majority of Nevadans live. Yes, he turns up with a smile during election season, otherwise he does zip.
