Updated Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014 | 8:08 a.m.

North Las Vegas Police said they arrested a 22-year-old driver and were looking for his passenger after shots were fired at an officer several times during a high-speed chase.

Christopher Young, 22, was arrested on counts including attempted murder and evading a police officer. He was being held at the Las Vegas Detention Center.

The officer was not injured.

According to North Las Vegas Police, a traffic officer was on patrol about 5:30 p.m. when the officer heard gunshots and saw a blue Saturn speed away.

As the car passed the officer, an occupant in the car fired several rounds at the officer, police said.

The officer attempted to stop the car near Cheyenne Avenue and Commerce Street, but the Saturn sped away, starting a pursuit that led to several more shots being fired at the officer, police said.

The car crashed into a power pole in the 1200 block of West Alexander Road, according to police. Young, who was driving the car, was arrested and police searched for a passenger who has yet to be found.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact North Las Vegas Police at (702) 633-9111 or to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
