letter to the editor:

Why are groups silent on Cordish?

In regard to allegations of racial discrimination on the part of Cordish Cos. employees at entertainment venues throughout the country, I find the collective silence by the Las Vegas chapters of the American Civil Liberties Union and NAACP disillusioning and dismaying.

Black people were denied entry to entertainment venues, based upon their skin color and the appearance of their clothing, by employees of the company partnering with Las Vegas on a soccer stadium proposal.

Why have the ACLU and NAACP — along with the leaders of the Jewish community, who have stood side by side with black people in their civil rights struggle — remained silent?

In my view, their collective silence brings great shame and great disrepute to the leaders of these organizations and the Jewish community. Their collective silence is the Cordish Cos.’ greatest ally.
