letter to the editor:

Golden age turning to rust

I am a 68-year-old diabetic with heart disease. My Medicare plan changed this year. I used to pay $65 for a six-month supply of insulin; this year, I have to pay $600 per month for the same thing.

I have had a lot of people make suggestions about calling different places for help.

Unless I am impoverished, I don’t qualify.

My husband worked for more than 50 years to get what we have. I still have rent payments, a car payment, insurance (house, health, car), credit cards from the past, car repairs, tires, gas, utilities and groceries.

Nothing changes when you retire except you stay home and hope prices don’t go up. These are supposed to be the golden years. I think someone mistook gold for rust.
