Henderson woman injured in crash last week dies at hospital

A 69-year-old woman died Wednesday, a week after suffering severe injuries in a Henderson car accident, a city official said.

Myrna Centeno of Henderson died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center after a two-vehicle crash Nov. 12 at St. Rose Parkway and South Eastern Avenue, city of Henderson spokeswoman Kathleen Richards said in a news release.

Centeno was a passenger in an eastbound 2012 Nissan Rogue on St. Rose Parkway that collided with a 2006 BMW at the Eastern Avenue intersection, Richards said.

The BMW was headed west on St. Rose Parkway and ran a red light, turning left onto southbound Eastern Avenue and colliding with the Nissan, Richards said.

Centeno and the 70-year-old driver of the Nissan were taken to St. Rose Dominican Hospital, Siena Campus with injuries originally thought to be non-life-threatening, Richards said.

Centeno was transported to Sunrise when it was determined she had suffered severe injuries, the release said.

The BMW driver, who was not injured, was cited with failure to obey a steady red signal, Richards said.

Police do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision, Richards said.
