Clark County Fire Department Chief Bertral “Bert” Washington is leaving for a job leading the fire department in Pasadena, Calif.

Washington, who has served as fire chief in Clark County since November 2010, will leave the department on Dec. 12, a statement from the county said.

“Although I will miss working with the men and women of the CCFD, as well as our local, state and federal partners, we are excited to rejoin our family in Southern California and be a part of the tradition and innovation that lives in Pasadena,” Washington said in the statement.

Washington previously worked with Las Vegas Fire & Rescue for 16 years in positions including assistant chief, battalion chief and firefighter.

He was the ninth chief of the Clark County Fire Department.

County Manager Don Burnette will determine the process to seek a replacement, Clark County spokesman Erik Pappa said.

Washington will replace retiring Pasadena Fire Chief Calvin E. Wells and is expected to start in his new position Dec. 15, according to a city of Pasadena news release.
