Three people were killed this morning when a car on the 215 Beltway in North Las Vegas went out of control and slammed head-on into an SUV, which burst into flames, the Nevada Highway Patrol reported.
The car was eastbound on the beltway west of North 5th Street about 5 a.m. when it ran off the right shoulder, the patrol said. The driver overcorrected, sending the blue Mazda 6 spinning across the median into oncoming traffic, the patrol said.
The car crashed head-on into a Cadillac Escalade, which caught fire, the patrol said.
The driver of the SUV, a 59-year-old man, was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol said. He was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
An unidentified passenger in the SUV and the driver of the car, a 56-year-old man, also were killed, officials said.
The names of the victims have not yet been released.
