CARSON CITY — Chris Nielsen, who has headed the state Department of Taxation since 2011, has been named deputy chief of staff to Gov. Brian Sandoval.
Sandoval has said he wants to change the state’s tax system.
Sandoval announced the change today, effective Nov. 21.
He said Nielsen will replace Jackie Bryant, who will become court administrator and clerk of court in Washoe County.
No replacement has been named for Nielsen.
This is the second time the governor has brought a state department director onto his staff. He previously named Mike Willden, who headed Department of Health and Human Services, as his chief of staff.
