Updated Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014 | 7:20 p.m.

A bicyclist was killed Saturday afternoon in a hit-and-run accident in Henderson.

The accident happened around 2 p.m. on Eastern Avenue near Evansville Avenue, a Henderson spokesman said. A man was riding a bicycle near the outside curb in the southbound lanes. While other traffic was slowing to pass him, the driver of a blue sedan switched lanes and struck the bicyclist from behind.

The man was taken to St. Rose Dominican Hospital — Siena Campus, where he was pronounced dead.

The vehicle fled the scene and was last seen on Eastern near Grand Hills Drive. The car had a smashed windshield and hood damage, the spokesman said. The vehicle had the license plate 871-LZH and was believed to be a Honda or Acura. The driver was described as an adult man wearing a baseball cap.

On Saturday evening, Henderson spokesman Keith Paul said the car had been located but no arrests had been made.

Police closed the roadway for about three and a half hours to investigate.

Anyone with information about the driver's whereabouts is urged to call the Henderson Police Department at 702-267-4913.
