Chill to creep into Las Vegas over the weekend

A cold front that will sweep through the Las Vegas Valley this weekend is expected to drop overnight lows to about 40 degrees on Sunday and Monday before things start to warm back up, according to the National Weather Service.

Lows will climb back to about 50 degrees later in the week. Highs are expected to be about 65 degrees Sunday and Monday before returning to about 70 degrees.

Parts of Northern Nevada and northern Clark County could see low temperatures below freezing, meteorologists said. In Pahrump, the low on Monday is expected to be about 30 degrees.

Winds are also expected to pick up through Monday.

The cold air comes days after an arctic chill plunged into the Midwest from Canada and spread to the East Coast.
