Metro Police have arrested a teen they allege fled the scene of a fatal street racing crash on Monday.

Francisco Alcaraz-Cruz, 19, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on Wednesday on counts of reckless driving and failure to stop at the scene of an accident, police said.

Police said Alcaraz-Cruz was racing a 1988 Honda CRX with Micheal Aviles, 19, who was driving a 1998 Pontiac Firebird.

Both cars were traveling east on Spanish Ridge Avenue near Riley Street about 2:30 a.m. when the Firebird went off the road, hit a block wall, came back onto the road and hit the CRX, police said.

Aviles was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcaraz-Cruz fled the scene on foot, police said.
