Police release sketch of suspect in fatal shooting, robbery

The man pictured in this sketch is a suspect in the Nov. 11, 2014, robbery and shooting of a 22-year-old woman on Simmons Street near Lake Mead Boulevard, according to Metro Police.

Metro Police released additional details today about three people wanted in connection with the robbery and fatal shooting a woman in the north valley Tuesday night.

Laura McKinney, 22, of Las Vegas was walking along Simmons Street near Lake Mead Boulevard with a friend about 10:30 p.m. when they were approached by three young men, police said.

One of them pulled a handgun and demanded McKinney give up her belongings, police said. At some point, he fired one shot, hitting McKinney, before the suspects fled on foot, police said.

Police found McKinney in the street. She was transported to University Medical Center, where she died.

The suspect accused of shooting McKinney is described as a black male age 16 to 20, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall and 120 to 130 pounds, according to police.

Police said he has a dark complexion, a thin build and short, tightly curled hair. He was wearing a red sweatshirt, black basketball shorts and dark athletic shoes, possibly Converse, police said.

The second suspect is a black male 18 to 19 years old, 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and 130 to 140 pounds. He was wearing a dark blue or black sweatshirt and blue jeans, police said.

The final suspect is a black male 16 to 18 years old, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and 130 to 140 pounds. He had his hair in dreadlocks long enough to reach his eyebrows and was wearing a gray sweatshirt with dark blue or black sleeves and blue jeans, police said.
