Another week of unseasonably warm temperatures, forecasters say

Las Vegas Valley residents hoping for a drop in temperatures will have to wait, as the National Weather Service is predicting sunny skies and continued warmth through at least early next week.

The area will see steady temperatures with average highs of 70 to 75 degrees and average lows of 50 to 55 degrees through next Tuesday, meteorologist Clay Morgan said.

Although the nights are expected to be partly cloudy, Morgan said rain in the valley is unlikely.

Light and variable winds are expected to affect the area through Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Mount Charleston has a small shot at rain or snow falling Friday, but any snow that would fall would most likely be at the highest elevations, he said.

An Arctic air mass heavily affecting areas east of the Rocky Mountains has had little effect on the temperatures in the valley, which are about 5 degrees above normal for this time of year, Morgan said.
