2 cats killed in south valley house fire

A house fire in the south valley Monday night killed two cats and caused about $85,000 damage, fire department officials said.

The Clark County and Henderson fire departments received reports about 7:30 p.m. of a clothes dryer on fire at 10641 Wildhurst St., near St. Rose Parkway and South Maryland Parkway, Clark County Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Buchanan said in a statement.

The fire damaged the laundry room and extended to the living area and garage, he said.

No people were injured, but two cats died in the blaze.

Firefighters revived another cat and a dog using pet oxygen masks and CPR. Another cat was missing and apparently escaped, officials said.
