letter to the editor:

Address problems, learn from them

I read Carmine DiFazio’s letter with interest (“Midterm elections to stun Democrats,” Oct. 24). Last I read, on Oct. 24, the stock market had risen greatly, not by a few points, but a few percentage points. I would hardly call that tanking.

It seems there is a group of countries joining together to fight the Islamic State. A far cry from an administration that went in 10 years ago looking for weapons of mass destruction and found none. As I recall, they went in without the support of allies. The whole world has to fight this problem, not just us.

Ebola is spreading. The hysteria is spreading. We have had a handful of cases in this country, and we are learning every day how to deal with it.

Just heard of another shooting at a high school. Isn’t it interesting that we have thousands of death by guns and we cannot even get simple background checks passed? By my calculations, we have thousands more chances to die by guns than Ebola, but we can’t even address the issue because of some narrow-mindedness.

We have to address all these problems, not from an emotional and ideological level, but a common-sense one.
