A 49-year-old road construction crew member hit by a car early Friday morning in what Henderson Police say was a drunken driving accident has died, according to Henderson representatives.

The woman, who has not yet been identified, was struck by a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu about 2 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Warm Springs Road at Cebolla Street, according to a Henderson statement.

The worker, who was using safety equipment and wearing a reflective suit, was directing traffic when 21-year-old Selina Gonzalez-Gascon hit her and kept driving, the statement said.

The woman was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center's trauma center, where she was pronounced dead.

Gonzalez-Gascon had to be stopped by construction crew members, the statement said.

She was arrested and taken to Henderson Detention Center. She is expected to face charges including felony DUI involving substantial bodily harm, felony hit and run, failure to stop and render aid, and disobeying a flagman in a construction zone.

The area was closed for about four hours during the crash investigation, the statement said.

The worker's identity will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office once next of kin has been notified.
