Judge hit by wrong-way driver outside courthouse released from hospital

Updated Friday, Nov. 7, 2014 | 4:11 p.m.

A District Court judge hit by a wrong-way driver this morning outside the Clark County Regional Justice Center has been released from the hospital, officials said.

Eighth Judicial District Court Judge Linda Bell was crossing Clark Avenue near Casino Center Boulevard in a crosswalk about 7:30 a.m. when she was hit, according to court spokeswoman Mary Ann Price.

Bell was transported to University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. She was released about 2 p.m., Price said.

The driver, whose vehicle had out-of-state plates and was headed the wrong way on Clark — a one-way street — stayed at the scene, officials said.

“I really appreciate the court marshals, the paramedics and the folks at UMC Trauma who took care of me this morning," Bell said via the court's Twitter account.

She is expected to return to work within the next week, Price said.
