Coroner IDs man found shot to death in street

A man fatally shot in a northwest valley neighborhood Thursday morning was involved in a fight outside a house shortly before his death, Metro Police said.

The man, identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office as Michael Owen O’Brien, 62, of Las Vegas was found unresponsive in the 6900 block of West Welsh Circle, near North Rainbow Boulevard and West Alexander Road, police said.

O’Brien appears to have been involved in an altercation shortly before officers arrived at the scene, police said.

He died of a near-contact gunshot wound to the chest, the coroner determined.

Police believe he was shot near the garage of the house and walked down the driveway before collapsing in the street, police said.

Police have not identified a suspect in the shooting, officials said.

The shooting marks the 107th homicide investigated by Metro this year.
