Jaren Campbell rushed for 170 yards and three touchdowns today for the Palo Verde High football team, leading them to a 42-12 victory against visiting Cimarron-Memorial in the Sunset Regional quarterfinals.
“He’s run hard for us all year,” Palo Verde coach Darwin Rost said.
Palo Verde held a slim one-point lead late in the second quarter when Logan Hutchison hooked up with Isaac Woods for a 9-yard touchdown on the last play of the half for a 13-6 halftime lead.
Campbell had all three of his touchdown runs in the second half, and Ty Fuller added a 42-yard touchdown run.
In the first half, Aaron Chisholm opened the scoring on a 92-yard touchdown run. Palo Verde advances to next week’s Sunset semifinals to face top-seeded Arbor View.
“It’s two physical teams going at each other,” Rost said.
