Toddler killed in U.S. 95 rollover is identified

A toddler killed in a rollover crash Wednesday on a U.S. 95 ramp to Summerlin Parkway has been identified as 2-year-old Alden Shi of Las Vegas, the Clark County Coroner's Office said.

A preliminary investigation found that Shi was improperly restrained in the left-rear passenger seat when he was ejected from a 2002 Toyota Rav4, according to a Nevada Highway Patrol statement.

The 46-year-old male driver from Las Vegas and a 12-year-old female passenger were taken to University Medical Center with minor injuries and have been released, the statement said.

Officials believe the driver entered the west paved shoulder of the ramp before suddenly steering to the right. The vehicle rotated and traveled along the ramp before hitting the east barrier wall, the statement said.

The car then rotated and rolled over, sliding north and ejecting Shi before eventually coming to a stop on its side, the statement said.

Charges may be filed when the investigation ends, according to NHP.
