Updated Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014 | 4:06 p.m.

A brief lockdown at a Las Vegas elementary school was lifted today after an unconfirmed report of a man with a gun near the campus, Metro Police said.

The lockdown at Kermit R. Booker Sr. Empowerment Elementary School, 2277 N. Martin Luther King Blvd., near West Lake Mead Boulevard, began about 2:30 p.m. and was lifted about 2:50 p.m., Clark County School District spokeswoman Michelle Booth said.

Police had received a report that a man in the backseat of a vehicle near the campus appeared to have a gun, Metro Officer Laura Meltzer said.

The man never threatened anyone and had left the scene by the time officers arrived, Meltzer said.
