Officials unveil new traffic signal in northwest valley

A new traffic signal will begin operating Friday in the northwest valley, part of what Clark County officials say is an estimated $2.65 million effort to enhance traffic safety.

The signal, located at the intersection of Centennial and Grand Montecito parkways, will operate Friday as a four-way red flash signal after peak morning traffic, according to a county news release.

It will switch over to a full green, yellow and red signal Saturday morning, officials said.

The new signal, constructed by Las Vegas Electric, is part of a multisignal project to enhance pedestrian and automobile safety, the county said.

The project is being funded by fuel tax indexing, which ties the fuel tax to the rate of inflation.
