Officers collide in motorcycle training exercise

Two officers taking a motorcycle certification course collided Thursday morning on southbound U.S. 95 near Jones Boulevard, Nevada Highway Patrol said.

Officials received reports of a collision about 10:40 a.m. between a Henderson Police officer and a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper riding motorcycles as part of a two-week motorcycle certification training course for officers, Trooper Loy Hixson said.

The officers were not seriously injured, and no one was transported to the hospital, he said.

There was minimal damage to the bikes, and the roadway in the area was closed for about 15 minutes, he said.

Hixson said there will be a regular investigation as well as an internal investigation into the accident.
