A 48-year-old inmate died today at the Henderson Detention Center.
City spokeswoman Kathleen Richards said the man was obese and suffered a medical episode about 7:30 a.m. in the booking area of the jail.
Paramedics tried to revive the man but failed, she said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man had been held at the detention center for less than a day after being taken into custody Tuesday afternoon, Richards said. She did not say why he was jailed.
The man’s identity and cause of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
