SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch says it's obvious gay marriage will become legal across the country sooner or later.

Hatch says people who can't see what's happening aren't living in the real world. He made the remarks Wednesday on KSL-Radio's “Doug Wright Show.”

Hatch said he didn't agree with recent court rulings, but defended two Utah judges that recently made pro-gay marriage decisions. He added that Robert Shelby and Dale Kimball were both excellent federal judges.

Hatch, a seven-term Republican senator, has been a proponent of keeping marriage exclusively for a man and a woman.

He said he didn’t think the flood of pro-gay marriage rulings was the right way to go, but he said he accepted what the courts decided. He also predicted the Supreme Court would take a gay marriage case in 2015.
