Man shot four times in western valley, police say

Metro Police are investigating a shooting Monday evening in which the victim was shot multiple times but is expected to survive, according to Lt. Dave Valenta.

Just before 5 p.m. police responded to reports of a shooting near the 5900 block of West Tropicana Avenue.

Officers found blood and bullet casings at the scene, but no victims or suspects.

Shortly afterward police were directed to a car in a parking lot of a strip mall near Tropicana Avenue and Decatur Boulevard. The male passenger had been shot four times, and police believe he was the victim of the shooting just a few blocks away.

The victim was shot on his right side, Valenta said, and was transported to University Medical Center. His injuries are not considered life threatening.

Detectives have not yet had the chance to speak with the victim, and no suspect description was immediately available.

The investigation is ongoing.
