A fight inside a Palms suite Thursday night led to a shooting that left a Henderson man dead, according to Metro Police.

The shooting happened about 9:20 p.m. in the off-Strip resort’s Fantasy Tower, where people had gathered for a party in the Hugh Heffner suite. It appears the victim was involved in an argument and physical altercation with three other males at the time shots rang out, police said.

The victim — identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office as 25-year-old Evan Plunkett — was taken to University Medical Center with a gunshot wound and later died. The coroner has not determined the official cause and manner of death.

The suspects left the scene before officers got there, police said. No one has been arrested.

Investigators said some 40 to 50 people attended the party, and the hotel was temporarily locked down after the shooting.

It’s the 47th homicide investigated by Metro detectives this year.

Police ask that anyone with information contact Metro’s homicide section at 702-828-3521 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or online at crimestoppersofnv.com.

Resort officials declined to release details about the shooting but said they were cooperating with police.

"We are saddened by this unfortunate, isolated incident, and our thoughts are with the victim's friends and family," the statement said. "The safety and security of our guests and team members are always our number one priority."
