Northern Nevada inmate with chronic condition is second to die this week

An inmate at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center has died, officials announced today.

Eric Brown, 70, reportedly died today at the prison’s Regional Medical Facility.

According to the state Department of Corrections, Brown, who had an unspecified chronic medical condition, had been in prison since since September 2011, serving four to 10 years for abuse, neglect or endangerment of a child.

He is the second inmate with a chronic condition to die this week.

Jerome Urban, 56, died on Wednesday, at the same prison’s Regional Medical Facility, according to corrections officials.

Autopsies were requested, officials said.
