A look at the new 21X48 LED video board in the north endzone of Sam Boyd Stadium.

Sam Boyd Stadium, home of UNLV football, has a new $400,000 LED video board in the north endzone, the university announced today.

The 21X48 board is double the width of the previous screen, which had been used since the stadium was renovated in 1999 and considered outdated. The new board, which was recently installed, has state-of-the-art video and graphic capabilities, according to a press release. On game days, it will display statistics such as down and distance, and have the score.

“We are committed to creating an exciting game-day atmosphere for everyone who supports UNLV football — our students, the Las Vegas community and our corporate partners,” UNLV Director of Athletics Tina Kunzer-Murphy said in the statement.

Of course, UNLV is still working on getting an on-campus facility for its football program. Sam Boyd is located in east Las Vegas, about 10 miles from campus.

The board will make its debut this weekend during the Monster Energy Supercross event.
