Police: Robbery target turns tables, becomes assailant in deadly shooting

A man found shot to death outside a convenience store Thursday night had been attempting to rob the suspected shooter, who has not been located, according to Metro Police.

The deceased man’s alleged accomplice also was shot but survived, police said. The incident happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. in the 7700 block of South Jones Boulevard in the southwest Las Vegas Valley.

The surviving gunshot victim apparently walked into the convenience store and asked a clerk for help. When officers arrived, they found a deceased man inside a sport-utility vehicle that had crashed into a car in the parking lot, police said.

The early investigation indicates two men had lured a third male into their vehicle and attempted to rob him, police said. The third male, however, shot the two men then fled.

The death marks the 20th homicide in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.

Police ask anyone with information about the case to contact the homicide section at 702-828-3521. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or visit www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
