2 crashes snarl traffic at US 95 and Summerlin Parkway

Two separate wrecks snarled traffic this morning on northbound U.S. 95 to westbound Summerlin Parkway.

The Nevada Highway Patrol responded to the first collision between a van and an unloaded RTC bus about 5:50 a.m. on the U.S. 95 off-ramp to Summerlin Parkway. About 20 minutes later, two cars collided in the same area, NHP Trooper Loy Hixson said.

Two people in the second accident were transported to University Medical Center with injuries not considered life threatening, officials said.

The crashes were blocking the ramp to Summerlin Parkway westbound and causing long delays, Hixson said. The highway was expected to be cleared about 7:45 a.m.
