Bradley Kuhns suggests in his Thursday letter “How officials can end long-hauling” that the answer to long-hauling cabbies is more enforcement and punishment for the cab companies.
That might help, but catching the offenders would still be a problem.
I have been in other cities where they post fixed prices for primary destinations from the airport cab stands and provide buses with fixed fares to downtown transit hubs.
It wouldn’t stop the long-hauling of locals, but it would put an end to the primary problem.
