A man was shot dead near downtown Las Vegas this afternoon.
Metro Police Lt. Michael Wallace said the man was shot on New York Avenue just east of Industrial Road about 2 p.m. When officers arrived, two good Samaritans were tending to his wounds.
Clark County Coroner's Office officials on Monday identified the man as 31-year-old Gabriel Dieguez.
Paramedics rushed Dieguez to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Homicide detectives are investigating the shooting.
“We have a lot of vague descriptions (of suspects),” Wallace said. “We’re still trying to sift through all the witness statements and make a determination on true descriptions.”
A group of suspects was seen fleeing the location on foot, Wallace said.
Police have blocked off the location as they search for evidence.
