Administrator who advised governor on budget resigns

Jeff Mohlenkamp, director of the state Department of Administration and who prepares the budget for the governor, is resigning after 27 years in state government.

Mohlenkamp, 51, has worked for the state Gaming Control Board, Health and Welfare, Internal Audit and the Department of Corrections before taking over his current job in July 2011.

He oversees 16 divisions or programs including budget, buildings and grounds, motor pool, historical records, purchasing, libraries and risk management.

His resignation is effective April 7 and he will become head of administration in Walnut Creek, Calif.

No replacement has been named for the $127,721-a-year job.

Gov. Brian Sandoval said, "His diligence and unwavering commitment throughout the last budget cycle was a benefit to the entire state."
