Court officials warn of jury duty telephone scam

Clark County court officials have advice for anyone who gets a call requesting a phone payment for failing to appear for jury service:

Hang up. It’s a scam.

The court says it is seeing a “resurgence” of a scam in which county residents are called and told they need to pay a fine over the phone or appear before a judge for not reporting to jury duty.

Clark County court employees never request payments over the phone, court officials said.

The scammers seem to be targeting the elderly, court officials said.

People who get the bogus calls are urged not to disclose personal or financial information. They should instead report the incident to police.
