Allan Dykstra and Brandon Allen hit home runs today for the Las Vegas 51s in a 7-3 victory against visiting Salt Lake to open a four-game series at Cashman Field.
Allen smacked a three-run home run in the sixth inning to give the 51s a 7-1 advantage. He finished 2 for 4 with two runs scored.
Josh Satin added three hits for Las Vegas and Matt Reynolds had a pair of RBIs.
Starter Greg Peavey surrendered a pair of home runs for the 51s, but still pitched through the eighth inning to earn the win.
The series continues at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday. After Thursday’s game, the club’s popular Fourth of July “Fireworks Extravaganza” is scheduled.
