Work to get under way in 2015 on new luxury housing community planned for Summerlin

A new luxury residential community is planned for Summerlin.

Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin, is partnering in the venture with Scottsdale, Ariz.,-based Discovery Land Co. in the unnamed 555-acre, high-end community that will be south of The Ridges community in Summerlin. The two companies announced the development in a news release this morning.

“The opening of Downtown Summerlin along with the development of this unmatched resort community will further strengthen Summerlin's unique position as the top place to live in Las Vegas,” said David R. Weinreb, chief executive officer of the Howard Hughes Corp.

In addition to the homes, the development will include a private, 18-hole golf course designed by the renowned Tom Fazio.

Development is expected to begin in mid-2015 with the first lot and home sales coming later in 2015.

Each of Discovery’s projects is distinct its own themes and architectural styles inspired by the natural environment and traditions of the projects’ locale, according to the news release.

“Nothing like this yet exists in Las Vegas, so we are particularly pleased to partner with the Howard Hughes Corporation in bringing this unparalleled resort-style living opportunity to the area,” said Michael S. Meldman, Discovery’s chairman and CEO.
