Man shot dead at gas station west of Las Vegas Strip

A man was shot and killed Tuesday night after stepping out of his vehicle at a gas station about a mile west of the Las Vegas Strip.

Metro Police responded about 10:55 p.m. to reports of a shooting at a gas station in the 3700 block of West Tropicana Avenue, near Valley View Boulevard.

According to Metro homicide detectives, the victim had parked his car at a gas pump and waited for more than 30 minutes before he got out of the car. As soon as he stepped out, he was shot multiple times, police said.

The man was transported to University Medical Center, where he died.

Two suspects were seen getting into a tan, four-door sedan and driving away, police said.

The shooting was the 62nd homicide in Metro’s jurisdiction in 2014, police said.
