The 51s’ downturn may have reached a new low Friday night at Cashman Field.
A seventh loss in eight games came by the widest margin yet as the Fresno Grizzlies trampled their way to a 10-1 victory. Fresno racked up 18 hits, including seven off of starter Darin Gorski to create a cushion early in the game.
Las Vegas had just three hits with its only run coming off of a double from pinch hitter Daniel Muno to score right fielder Cory Vaughn in the seventh inning.
Despite the slump, the 51s’ early-season tear has kept them in prime position. With a 35-26 record, Las Vegas still leads the Pacific League Pacific Southern division by 5.5 games.
The 51s return to action against the Grizzlies at 7:05 p.m. Saturday night.
