CARSON CITY — Marvin Teixeira, a three-term former mayor of Carson City, died today at his home.
He was 79 and had been in failing health for a number of months.
He retired from office in 2008.
In a 2007 tribute to Teixeira, Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., characterized him as a “determined and tireless worker” for the city in bringing in new companies, securing funding for a freeway bypass to ease downtown traffic and beginning a $1 million downtown beautification project.
A funeral has not been set.
