Roads reopen on Mount Charleston after flood damage

Rainbow Subdivision Hit Hard By Flooding

Firefighters inspect damage to Rainbow Canyon Boulevard in the Rainbow Subdivision on Mt. Charleston Monday, July 28, 2014. The neighborhood was hit hard by flooding and debris in runoff last year as well.

Roads in the Rainbow Canyon area of Mount Charleston opened up late this afternoon after floodwaters from Monday's storms washed them out, Clark County spokeswoman Stacey Welling said.

Crews from the Department of Public Works cleaned up debris and filled in crevices in order to make roads like Rainbow Canyon Boulevard drivable, she said.

They are still assessing the damage, which included a broken water line.

It will cost about $75,000 to fully repair the roads, she said.
