UNLV vs. Illinois

Hey Reb leads the UNLV basketball team out of the tunnel for their game against Illinois Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013 at the Thomas & Mack Cetner.

The Rebels will open their Mountain West schedule at Wyoming on New Year’s Eve, it was announced today.

UNLV begins league play on the road for the second straight season after playing at Fresno State on New Year’s Day last year. The Rebels’ first home league game is against UNR on Jan. 7, and a crucial stretch follows a week later.

The Rebels play at Boise State (Jan. 13), at San Diego State (Jan. 17) and host New Mexico (Jan. 21) in a nine-day span. Those four teams, plus Colorado State, figure to be the main factors in the conference title race.

Other key dates include at Colorado State (Feb. 7), at New Mexico (Feb. 21) and home against San Diego State (March 4). The Rebels’ game at UNR will be on either Tuesday, Jan. 27, or Wednesday, Jan. 28.

Because of the uneven schedule, UNLV plays Colorado State and Fresno State only once each. They face all the other teams twice.
